Distance: 40.0 km.
Average Grade: 3 m/km.
Peak Grade: 22 m/km.
Difficulty: Grade 3-4.
Paddling Time: 2 days paddling plus 2 walking.
Entry Point: Two days hard walk from Farmhouse creek. Day 1 to Judd’s Cavern, Day 2 to the Craycroft / South Craycroft junction.
Exit Point: Tahune Bridge
Water Level: At least 1.0 m at Tahune. The only trip to date was half done in flood.
Tasmap: 1:100 000 Huon.
Shuttle: ~25 km.
General Description: Grade 2 down to the Craycroft gorge, similar to the Picton. More difficult, tight, commiting, rapids with shear rock walls in the Craycroft gorge, difficult to scout due to the nature of the terrain (one portage in the gorge due to a log). Flattens out through good rainforest with log-jams to the Huon Junction. Paddling time – 2 days (camp at Cracroft Crossing).
