General Description: The river consists of small steep rocky rapids that increase in size as the water rises. The rapids of note are 3 km downstream, just into Sugarloaf Gorge. The "rock garden", consists of large boulders for about 100 m and caution should be taken at high water as there are some large stoppers. This is followed by the "Slippery Dip" consisting of a main stopper that can be avoided, paddling river right. Watch out for log jams and trees. The section above this is small grade 2 for about 6 km.
